Missouri quarterback
Chase Daniel, a Heisman finalist last season, signed and returned a Sports Illustrated magazine I sent to him in December of 2007. That request, care of the Tigers' athletic department, took nearly 300 days. Daniel, a senior from the state of Texas, threw for over 4000 yards while completing nearly 70% of his passes last fall and is a former First Team All-Academic Big XII selection. He earned Second Team All-America honors last year and was named the 2007-2008 Big XII Offensive Player of the Year and Conference Male Athlete of the Year.

Also signing was Michigan freshman wide receiver
Darryl Stonum, who returned a pair of index cards in about two months. The former four-star prospect from Texas has had limited opportunities in the Wolverines' first three games of the 2008 season.
