Offensive firepower...
A pair of college football's top touchdown producers returned successes on Saturday...
Texas Tech QB Graham Harrell, who threw for more than 4500 yards and 38 touchdowns in his first season as a starter last fall, signed a small photo he provided but did not return the index cards I had enclosed. That request, which was returned in 24 days, was sent care of the Texas Tech athletic department. The junior is on pace to shatter every Red Raider passing record, which would be a remarkable achievement. He had the fourth-best sophomore season of any player in NCAA history in 2006 and is a Manning Award candidate heading into 2007.
Meanwhile, Purdue WR Dorien Bryant signed a pair of index cards care of the university's athletic department. That request took just 29 days. The 2006 First Team All-Big Ten selection ranks third on the school's all-time list in both receptions and all-purpose yards. Last fall he had nearly 1100 receiving yards and hauled in 8 touchdowns.
