A Saturday success...

Georgia Bulldogs' star return man Mikey Henderson has returned a pair of index cards care of the UGA athletic department in 40 days. Henderson also included a nice note and the questionnaire along with the success. The senior was First Team All-SEC as a punt returner last fall and has also been a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.

Week recap...

Five successes arrvied in the mailbox this week...

Among them was Texas quarterback Colt McCoy, a devout Christian who signed the 8x10 photo I designed and sent to him care of the UT athletic department. That request took just 23 days, and as I requested, McCoy included his favorite Bible verse on the photo. A First Team Academic All-Big XII selection, the sophomore signal-caller has led the Horns to a 4-0 start while throwing for over 1000 yards and 7 touchdowns already this season.

Also signing an 8x10 photo I designed was former Maryland quarterback Sam Hollenbach, also a devout Christian. Hollenbach returned that request in just 23 days care of the UM athletic department, and like McCoy, he also included his favorite Bible verse on the photo. The former Terps QB was the team's bowl game MVP last season and became only the 4th Maryland quarterback to ever throw for more than 5000 yards in a career.

Tennessee transfer Tyler Smith, who heads to Knoxville after spending one season at Iowa, signed a pair of index cards care of the UT athletic department in just 20 days. Smith earned Third Team All-Big Ten honors while playing with the Hawkeyes last season and was granted immediate eligibility at Tennessee, where he will be a sophomore for the 2007-2008 campaign.

Future college hoops star Delvon Roe of St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio signed a pair of index cards care of his school in just 14 days. Roe, who is committed to Michigan State, is ranked among the top 10 recruits in the country this season according to scout.com.

The week wraps up with high school footbal standout Mike Adams of Dublin-Coffman High School in Dublin, Ohio. The 6'7" 300-plus pounder is committed to Ohio State and is ranked among the top 10 prospects in the country, regardless of position, by scout.com.

Big Saturday success...

Four more successes arrived on Saturday...

Five members of Virginia Tech's defense, always one of America's best, signed an 8x10 photo I designed and sent care of the VT athletic department. That request took just 17 days. The photo was signed by CB Victor Harris, LB Vince Hall, LB Xavier Adibi, CB Brandon Flowers, and DE Chris Ellis. Four of the five are coming off seasons that earned them either First or Second Team All-ACC honors.

Also signing was Alabama true freshman RB Terry Grant. He signed a pair of index cards care of the UA athletic department in only 10 days. In 3 games this year, he has already run for over 400 yards and 5 touchdowns, leading the Tide to a 3-0 start to the campaign under new head coach Nick Saban.

High school phenom Terrelle Pryor from Jeanette (PA) High School also signed a pair of index cards. That success, sent care of his school, took just 10 days. Ranked as America's top football recruit and as one of the country's top 30 basketball recruits by Rivals.com, Pryor has offers from virtually everyone in the country but has yet to decide on his college choice.

And speaking of basketball recruits, Oak Hill Academy star Brandon Jennings signed a pair of index cards care of his school in 10 days as well. A nationally-ranked top 10 point guard recruit, Jennings has committed to Arizona over the likes of Connecticut, Kansas, Kentucky, and others.

Whew, what a week....

A recap of a very full week at the mailbox...

Georgia head coach Mark Richt was kind enough to sign an 8x10 photo I designed myself. That was sent care of the UGA athletic department and was returned in just 16 days. Coach Richt has led the Bullogs to a trio of SEC East titles and two SEC championships since arriving in Athens back in 2001. He is also a solid Christian man and one of the most respected college coaches in the game today.

There were also a pair of football successes in the box this week, including former Memphis and current New England Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski. Though he played both football and baseball at UM, he was one of just two kickers drafted in 2006, and the only one to make a roster. That request was sent care of the Patriots and was returned in 70 days.

Also signing was Rutgers wide receiver Tiquan Underwood. He returned a pair of index cards care of the Scarlet Knights' athletic department in just 12 days. Underwood, who also returns kicks for Rutgers, had four touchdowns a season ago and has gotten off to a hot start in 2007, already accumulating 500 receiving yards and a trio of TDs.

Turning to hoops, Tennessee star Chris Lofton signed a pair of index cards care of the UT athletic department in just 11 days. Though he was named Mr. Basketball in the state of Kentucky his senior year in high school, neither of the two big in-state schools recruited him. Now a candidate for national player of the year this season, Lofton is coming off a 2006-2007 season that saw him earn SEC player of the year honors after leading the league in scoring last season.

Syracuse super freshman Donte Greene also took time to sign a pair of index cards care of the SU athletic department. That request took just 11 days. A top 10 national recruit, Greene chose the Orange over the likes of Texas, Georgetown, and the home state Maryland Terps. He is expected to contribute right away for Syracuse this season.

His teammate, sophomore Paul Harris, also signed a pair of index cards care of SU, with that request also taking 11 days. Harris had a superb freshman campaign last year, leading the team with seven double-doubles and leading all Big East freshmen with more than 7 boards per game. In addition, Harris was the first 'Cuse freshman to post a double-double in his first college game since Carmelo Anthony did so in 2002.

Arizona State big man Jeff Pendergraph also signed a pair of index cards and included a nice note as well. That request, sent care of the ASU athletic department, took just 12 days. Pendergraph, a junior and also a stellar student in the classroom, nearly averaged a double-double a season ago, piling up 12 points and securing 9 rebounds a contest, leading the team in both categories.

VCU star Eric Maynor also took time to sign a pair of index cards in just 14 days care of the school's athletic department. Now a junior, Maynor is remembered by many for his clutch basket to take down Duke in last spring's NCAA Tournament first round game. For the season though, he averaged nearly 13 points per game while shooting better than 40% from downtown.

Also signing was NC State's Ben McCauley. That request was sent care of NCSU and took just 9 days. The big man, who will be a junior this season, was honorable mention All-ACC last year after averaging 14 points and 7 boards per game. He looks to be perhaps the top player on second-year head coach Sidney Lowe's 2006-2007 squad.

Utah's Luke Nevill also signed a pair of index cards care of the school's athletic department in only 8 days. The 7'1" junior center from Australia led the team in scoring last year with nearly 17 points per game while also pulling down nearly 8 boards per night.

Wrapping the week up was Nebraska big man Aleks Maric, who signed care of the Huskers' athletic department in 10 days. After taking his name out of the NBA Draft hat this past summer, the senior from Australia will return to Lincoln this season following an '06-'07 campaign that saw him average nearly 19 points and 9 rebounds per game, resulting in Second Team All-Big XII honors.

Freshman sensation signs...

Oklahoma redshirt freshman running back DeMarco Murray signed one of two index cards I sent him care of the OU athletic department in just 7 days. The Nevada native has stepped in this fall to help replace departed star Adrian Peterson after being rated the #1 running back in the nation coming out of high school by services such as ESPN.com. In the Sooners' first two games, he has run for over 150 yards and scored five touchdowns.

Two legends, two hoops stars...

Florida State head football coach Bobby Bowden signed an 8x10 photo care of the FSU athletic department in just nine days. Bowden is the winningest head coach in D-I history, totaling 367 victories since he began his career. Since arriving at Florida State, he has led the school to two national titles and twelve ACC championships. In addition, like Wooden below, he is also a man of high character who is respected by all of those around him for his positive effect on the players he leads.

Also signing was legendary UCLA head basketball coach John Wooden, who autographed an 8x10 photo care of his home address in just eight days. Wooden was the first person to ever be enshrined into the Basketball Hall of Fame as both a player and a coach after winning 10 national titles while coaching the Bruins. Wooden is known for his ability to motivate his players and drive them to achieve their dreams. His book, The Pyramid of Success, describes how to be a winner both on the court and in life.

In addition, incoming freshman DeAndre Jordan of Texas A&M signed a pair of index cards care of the Aggies' athletic department. That request took just eight dyas. The seven-footer from Houston was ranked among the top ten prospects in the 2007 class and chose Texas A&M over the likes of Florida, Indiana, and Texas.

Another hoops star, Davidson's Stephen Curry, also signed care of his athletic department in just eight days. The Wildcats' guard had a stellar freshman season last winter, averaging almost 22 points per game and connecting on 41% of his 3-point shots while leading the team to an impressive 29-5 record in 2006-2007.

You can check out the questionnaires from the two hoops stars on the message board and view the address used to contact each of these individuals by checking out the Success Database.

Week recap...

Indiana WR James Hardy was one of three college football successes this week. The Hoosiers' junior signed a pair of index cards care of the IU athletic department in 47 days. Hardy has been named Second Team All-Big Ten each of his first two seasons, accumulating over 1600 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns during that time. Coming into the season, he needed just ten more scores to tie the all-time school record. In the Hoosiers' opening game last weekend against Indiana State, Hardy hauled in 3 passes - 2 for touchdowns - and totaled 153 yards on the day.

Also signing was standout DB Dwight Lowery from San Jose State. The senior signed a pair of index cards care of the SJSU athletic department in just 22 days. Last fall, Lowery became the first Spartans player in school history to be named to two First Team All-America lists in the same season. Those honors followed a campaign that saw him set the SJSU record with 9 interceptions, the second highest total in the country in 2006. Lowery also averaged more than 8 yards per punt return for the Spartans last fall.

Louisiana-Monroe RB Calvin Dawson rounds out the week's activity. The senior signed a pair of index cards care of the ULM athletic department in 41 days. A Doak Walker Award candidate, Dawson earned First Team All-Sun Belt honors last fall after leading the conference with over 1200 yards on the ground, a total that ranked him among the top 20 backs in the country. Three of his seven 100-yard games came against SEC foes Alabama, Arkansas, and Kentucky.

All three players also completed questionnaires, which can be viewed on the message board. In addition, you can check out the exact addresses used to contact these players by taking a look at our Success Database.
