Hoops freshman...

West Virginia incoming freshman Devin Ebanks signed a pair of index cards care of the WVU athletic department in just 10 days. The five-star prospect out of Connecticut, ranked among the top 12 prospects in the country by Rivals.com, picked the Mountaineers over the likes of Indiana, Memphis, and Texas.

One WR...

Washington State wide receiver Brandon Gibson signed a pair of index cards and completed a questionnaire care of the Cougars' athletic department in just over three weeks. The senior compiled a school-record 1180 receiving yards last fall and also had 9 touchdowns on his way to earning First Team All-Pac 10 and Third Team All-America honors.

Another good start to the week...

Brothers Mike (UNC quarterback) and Greg Paulus (Duke point guard) returned a signed 8x10 photo care of the UNC athletic department in about one month. The younger of the two, Mike is set to battle for the starting job this fall after redshirting last year. Greg, meanwhile, will be a senior for the Blue Devils this season and has averaged more than 11 points per game each of the past two seasons while also handing out in excess of three assists.

Mike Paulus and North Carolina wide receiver Hakeem Nicks also signed an 8x10 photo care of the UNC athletic department. Nicks set the school record for receptions and receiving yards by a freshman two years ago and then broke the overall school record for receptions in a season last fall. His 80 receiving yards per game were second best in the ACC a seaon ago.

Florida State baseball foursome Buster Posey, Jack Rye, Tony Delmonico, and Matt Fairel returned a signed 8x10 photo care of the FSU athletic department in about three and a half months. Posey, the Brooks Wallace Award winner this spring, helped led FSU to the College World Series. Delmonico and Rye both batted above .370 with a combined 15 homeruns, while Fairel was outstanding on the mound, leading the team with a 12-2 record and 3.79 ERA.

Texas A&M fullback Jorvorskie Lane signed a pair of index cards and completed a questionnaire care of the Aggies' athletic department in about three weeks. The senior-to-be scored a school-record 19 touchdowns in 2006 and has scored 45 total touchdowns in his first three seasons.

Cal Poly wide receiver Ramses Barden also signed two index cards and filled out a questionnaire care of the team's athletic department in just three weeks. No returning player in D-IAA has scored more career touchdowns than the 6'6" senior.

Virginia Tech defensive back Kam Chancellor signed a pair of index cards and completed a questionnaire care of the Hokies' athletic offices in just over a week. The team's fourth leading tackler last fall, Chancellor earned the President's Award for demonstrating outstanding leadership during the off-season and spring programs last year.

Rounding out the day was Wisconsin incoming freshman quarterback Curt Phillips, who returned a pair of index cards and a completed questionnaire in just two weeks. The Tennessee native chose the Badgers over Kentucky, Duke, and others.

More mail...

Wake Forest senior defensive stars Alphonso Smith and Aaron Curry both signed and 4x6 combo photo, and each signed an individual index card as well. That success, the second of the year from the Demon Deacons, was care of the WFU athletic department in just over a week.

Smith, a First Team All-ACC and Second Team All-America performer, led the country with eight interceptions last fall, which set a school record for the Demon Deacons. Three of those picks were returned for touchdowns.

Curry, a linebacker who earned Second Team All-ACC and Second Team All-America honors last fall, tied the NCAA record for most interceptions returned for a touchdown in a season by a LB (3) and also led the team in tackles for loss.

Also signing was Illinois freshman DE Corey Liuget, who signed a pair of index cards and completed a questionnaire in just one week. The Florida native who selected the Illini over the likes of Florida State, LSU, and Miami was ranked as one of the top 80 recruits in the country regardless of position.

Two more...

Mississippi State quarterback Wesley Carroll signed a pair of index cards and completed a questionnaire in just one week. The Bulldogs' sophomore went 6-3 after taking over the starting position last fall, opened his career by throwing 137 consecutive passes without an interception, and was named an All-SEC Freshman.

Also signing was incoming Georgia hoops star Howard Thompkins, who returned a pair of index cards and a questionnaire care of the UGA athletic department in just 5 days. Ranked as one of the top 30 high school prospects in the country last season, Thompkins chose the Bulldogs over the likes of Florida, Kentucky, and UCLA.

North Dakota State running back Tyler Roehl signed and returned a pair of index cards and completed a questionnaire care of the NDSU athletic department in just over two weeks. The Bison's star ran for nearly 1500 yards and 21 touchdowns last fall and helped lead the team to a 10-1 record.

USF running back Mike Ford signed and returned a pair of index cards and also completed a questionnaire care of the Bulls' athletic department in just two weeks. The sophomore ran for nearly 650 yards as a freshman last fall and set the school record for touchdowns in a freshman campaign with 13.

Good start to the week...

Wisconsin RB P.J. Hill signed and returned a pair of index cards and completed a questionnaire care of the UW athletic department in just over three weeks. The Badgers' star back joins former Wisconsin greats Anthony Davis and Ron Dayne as the only three in school history to rush for over 1000 yards in each of their first 2 seasons.

Also signing was Oklahoma wide receiver Juaquin Iglesias, who returned a pair of index cards and a questionnaire care of the Sooners' athletic department in less than two weeks. Iglesias, a senior, led OU with over 900 receiving yards last fall and also scored 6 touchdowns.

Notre Dame freshman tight end Kyle Rudolph also signed a pair of index cards and completed a questionnaire in just over a week. The Ohio native was ranked as the #1 high school TE in the country and chose ND over the likes of Ohio State, Tennessee, Miami, and Michigan.

Former Mississippi State running back Dontae Walker signed an index card and also included a nice, one-page letter care of the Quitman County Community Work Center in just 5 days. Perhaps remembered most for his performance in the "Snow Bowl" against Texas A&M in 2000, Walker ran for nearly 1900 yards during his MSU career.

Two running backs...

Auburn running back Brad Lester signed a pair of index cards and completed a questionnaire care of the Tigers' athletic department in just 11 days. The senior ran for over 500 yards last fall despite missing the first 5 games of the season due to an academic suspension.

Also signing was Abilene Christian running back Bernard Scott, who signed two index cards and returned my questionnaire in 11 days care of the ACU athletic department. The runner-up for last year's Harlon Hill Award (given annually to the best player in Division II football), Scott set the all-time D-II single-season records for touchdowns (39).

Former Alabama wide receiver D.J. Hall signed a pair of index cards in 50 days. After going undrafted this past spring, Hall signed a professional contract with the Super Bowl champion New York Giants in late April.

Wake RB signs...

Wake Forest running back Josh Adams signed a pair of index cards and completed a questionnare care of the school's athletic department in just one week. As a redshirt freshman last fall, Adams set the school's freshman record for rushing yards (953) and touchdowns (12) on his way to earning ACC Freshman of the Year honors.

Two Mountaineers...

West Virginia star running back Noel Devine signed a pair of index cards care of the WVU athletic department in just over a week. The sophomore-to-be ran for over 600 yards and 6 touchdowns last season as a backup to Steve Slaton.

Also signing was WVU hoops standout Joe Alexander, a recent 8th overall selection by the Milwaukee Bucks in last month's NBA Draft. Alexander averaged 17 points and 6 rebounds on his way to All-Big East honors as a junior last season.
