A pair of Texas Tech football standouts plus a high school baseball star all signed this week...

Texas Tech redshirt freshman wide receiver Michael Crabtree signed a pair of index cards care of the school's athletic department in 43 days. The first year star from Dallas is shattering basically every record in sight, as he has already accumulated over 1300 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns in just 8 games this fall.

Also signing was his Red Raider teammate, Shannon Woods. The Tech running back signed a pair of index cards care of the athletic department in 72 days. The junior, who was the Big XII's best all-purpose back last season, has nearly 450 rushing yards and well over 100 receiving yard this fall, as well as 10 total TDs.

Rounding out the week was high school baseball star Taylor Jungmann, who signed a pair of index cards in 13 days care of Rogers (TX) High School. The right-handed pitcher has put together a 35-3 career high school record on the mound, including a 13-0 mark last spring as he led his team to the state title.

Recap of the week that was....

Florida quarterback Tim Tebow led the week off by signing an 8x10 photo I designed and sent to him care of his home address. That was returned signed in 42 days. Tebow has led the Gators to a 4-2 start to the season while throwing for nearly 1500 yards and 13 touchdowns and completing over 65% of his passes. The dual-threat QB has also run for almost 500 yards and 9 more scores already this fall.

Boston College's DeJuan Tribble also signed this week. The Eagles' defensive back and return specialist signed one index card care of the BC athletic department in 35 days. Tribble, a senior from Ohio, is a second team All-ACC performer who has already picked off four passes this fall.

High school football star A.J. Green also signed a pair of index cards care of his school. That success took just under a month. Green, one of the top five prospects in the country regardless of position, is a wide receiver from Summerville, SC who has committed to Georgia over the likes of Auburn, South Carolina, and Clemson.

Another high school standout, Tim Melville of Wentzville Holt (MO) High School, also signed a pair of index cards care of his school. That request took just 5 days. Melville was honored as the 2007 Jackie Robinson Award winner as the country's top high school baseball player. Last season he was 10-1 with a 0.89 ERA on the mound, while also hitting .443 at the plate.

Former college baseball star and current minor leaguer Jake Arrieta signed a pair of index cards care of his new squad in 58 days. The former TCU standout was 9-3 with a 3.01 ERA for the Frogs this past spring before being drafted in the fifth round by the Baltimore Orioles.

Rounding out the week was Hofstra hoops star Antoine Agudio. The guard signed a pair of index cards care of the school's athletic department in just 20 days. Entering his senior season, Agudio has compiled over 1600 points and cashed in on 273 career 3-point shots, third-best in the nation in both categories.

Four on Friday...

Memphis basketball star Joey Dorsey signed and returned a pair of index cards care of the UM athletic department in exactly one month. Last year's Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year will be a senior for the Tigers this winter and is touted as one of the country's top rebounders and shot blockers. In addition, Dorsey also shoots better than 60% from the floor.

Fellow big man Richard Hendrix of Alabama also signed a pair of index cards. The success, care of the UA athletic department, took just 30 days. Hendrix, who will be a junior for the Crimson Tide this season, averaged nearly 15 points and nine rebounds per game last year.

Also signing was Arkansas State's Adrian Banks. That request, sent care of the ASU athletic department, took just two weeks. Banks, who will be a senior for the Indians this season and has recently been named an honorable mention All-American, averaged over 21 points per game last year while shooting better than 47% from 3-point range. (As you can see, this one lost a bit of fight with the post office mail machine.)

Wrapping up the week was former Louisiana-Lafayette catcher Jonathan Lucroy. That request, sent care of his minor league team, the Helena Brewers, was returned in just under 100 days. Lucroy, a former Freshman All-American and All-Sun Belt selection, was selected with the 101st overall pick of the MLB Draft this past summer and hit an impressive .342 in more than 60 games with his minor league squad this summer.

Two on Tuesday...

A pair of basketball successes were in the box on Tuesday following the Monday holiday...

East Tennessee State's Courtney Pigram, last year's Atlantic Sun Player of the Year, signed a pair of index cards care of the ETSU athletic department in just 12 days. The junior averaged nearly 18 points per game last season while leading the Bucs to their first ever A-Sun title. Pigram was second best in the conference in steals per game and three-point shots made per game.

Also signing was high school hoops star Scotty Hopson of University Heights (KY) Academy. The Mississippi State committment is ranked among the top 10 prospects in the country, regardless of position, by rivals.com, and he signed a pair of index cards care of his school in just under a month. Hopson also included a nice letter, which can be viewed on the message board.

Last week's recap...

A half-dozen successes came in the mail over the course of the past week...

Leading the way is Heisman Trophy candidate Ray Rice of Rutgers. The star running back signed a pair of index cards care of the university's athletic department in just 11 days. The First Team Preseason All-American set the Big East record for rushing yards in a season last year and has already dashed for over 600 yards and 10 touchdowns this fall.

Also signing was Oklahoma redshirt freshman QB Sam Bradford. The Sooners' signal-caller signed a pair of index cards care of the OU athletic department in just under a month. After redshirting last fall, Bradford has stepped into the starting role this season and is completing over 70% of his passes while tossing for nearly 1500 yards and 18 touchdowns in six games.

And speaking of freshmen quarterbacks, Michigan's Ryan Mallett, just a true freshman, signed a pair of index cards care of the UM athletic department in just under 90 days. The native of Texarkana, AR was forced into duty with the injury of Chad Henne earlier this year and has thrown for nearly 400 yards and 4 touchdowns this fall. He is the favorite to take over the starting job full time next year.

One high school football star was also in the mailbox last week, as Edgewater (FL) High School's Michael Brewster signed a pair of index cards care of his school in just 17 days. The big offensive lineman, who is ranked among the top 8 recruits in the country regardless of position, is committed to Ohio State.

High school hoops standout Al-Farouq Aminu of Norcross (GA) High School also signed a pair of index cards, doing so care of his school in just 27 days. The 6'8" 210 pound prospect has committed to Wake Forest and is ranked among the top 12 recruits in the country, regardless of position.

The final success of the week came from former Mississippi State and current Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Maholm. The former Bulldog lefty signed a pair of index cards care of the Pirates' mailing address in just over 250 days. The former First Team All-SEC performer was selected with the 8th overall pick of the 2003 MLB Draft.
