Ajirotutu signs...

Fresno State star wide receiver Seyi Ajirotutu signed a pair of 4x6 photos and completed a questionnaire care of the Bulldogs' athletic department in about three weeks. The senior had over 700 receiving yards last fall and is on pace for a similar total this year while also being in the running for All-WAC honors.

Carroll signs...

USC head coach Pete Carroll signed an 8x10 photo I sent him care of the Trojans' athletic department. That success took just under two months.

Catching up...

Star Oregon running back LeGarrette Blount signed a pair of 4x6 photos care of the Ducks' athletic department in about ten days. The JUCO transfer ran for over 1000 yards for UO last fall and set a school record with 17 rushing touchdowns. Blount was recently named a Doak Walker Award candidate for the 2009 season.

Also signing was Texas A&M wide receiver Ryan Tannehill, who returned a pair of 4x6 photos care of the Aggies' athletic department in about two weeks. As a freshman last fall, he led the team and set an A&M freshman record with 55 receptions for nearly 850 yards and five touchdowns after switching to WR from quarterback.

Rounding out the week was incoming freshman quarterback Tyler Russell of Mississippi State. The 6'4" four-star recruit from Meridian (MS) High School selected the Bulldogs over South Carolina and others and is battling for playing time in Starkville this fall. He signed a pair of 4x6 photos in about 2 months.

Young stars sign....

Georgia standout wide receiver A.J. Green signed a pair of 4x6 photos in about 2 months. The SEC Freshman of the Year last season, Green's 56 receptions set a UGA freshman record, and 8 of those catches went for touchdowns. He was named a Freshman All-American by multiple publications at season's end.

Also signing was Oklahoma State incoming hoops freshman Roger Franklin signed a pair of index cards and completed a questionnaire in about four weeks. The four-star small forward was ranked as one of the top 100 players in the class of 2009 and chose the Cowboys over the likes of UCLA, Arizona, Oklahoma, and others.

Corp signs...

Southern Cal quarterback Aaron Corp signed a pair of 4x6 photos in about a week. The redshirt sophomore, who was ranked as the #3 signal-caller in the country coming out of high school two years ago, redshirted for the Trojans in 2007 and then saw limited duty in 2008. He is listed first on the team's depth chart heading into fall camp this August.

Pair of Bears...

California running back Jahvid Best returned a pair of 4x6 photos care of the Bears' athletic department in just under two weeks. A First Team All-PAC 10 and Second Team All-America selection last year, Best ran for over 131 yards per game, third best in the country in 2008.

Also signing was Cal teammate Syd'quan Thompson, who returned a pair of 4x6 photos care of the Bears' athletic offices too. Thompson, one of the top cornerbacks and punt returners in the nation, was also a First Team All-PAC 10 selection in 2008.

Three on Thursday...

Former Stanford pitcher and the 10th overall pick in this summer's MLB Draft Drew Storen signed a pair of 4x6 photos and completed a questionnaire care of his current minor league squad, the Hagerstown Suns, in about two weeks. The draft-eligible sophomore was a two-time First Team All-PAC 10 selection for the Cardinal.

Also signing was LSU football incoming freshman Craig Loston, who returned a pair of 4x6 photos care of his home address in just over two weeks. The five star prospect and top rated safety in the class of 2009 selected the Tigers over the likes of Oklahoma, USC, and Texas.

Rounding out the day was former Mississippi State baseball star Grant Hogue, who returned a pair of 4x6 photos and a nice note care of his current minor league team, the Greeneville Astros. Hogue, a 35th round draft pick by Houston, hit .315 as a senior for the Bulldogs.
